1999
X Siberian International Marathon |
The
10th anniversary Siberian International Marathon was held on
August 7th, 1999, Omsk, Russia.
As it was the jubilee one the organisers tried their best to
make this sport competition unforgettable for all runners, regardless
of their age, sex, and distance they run. Everyone can find
a distance for himself: a marathon, 10 km fun-run, a children's
mini-marathon, a roller skating race, an Ekiden marathon relay
event.
The 10th SIM was the first to which elite foreign athletes were
officially invited. A trio of south African athletes - Melk
Tiro Mothuli, Nixon Nkodima, and Isaac Tschabalala - came with
their coach, Dewald Steyn, to contest the first place prize
- a 'SVYATOGOR' car. Altogether, there were 15 foreign runners
from 11 countries.
